Concept
An elliptical loop that unifies exhibition, cultivation and public leisure within a continuous climatic membrane.
Botanic Ellipse reframes the greenhouse as a civic gesture. The continuous elliptical perimeter dissolves the traditional axis of entry, inviting visitors to circulate in a meditative, non-hierarchical loop through humid, temperate and arid microclimates.
A laminated timber gridshell composes the primary structure, its diagrid refined through parametric daylight analysis to balance shading and photosynthetic gain across the seasons. The soft, translucent envelope reads as a luminous vessel at dusk.
Indigenous flora is curated along a gradient of moisture, transitioning seamlessly from the exterior meadow into cultivated collections. Landscape and architecture are treated as a single, breathing ecology.
